JOB SUMMARY

The Coordinator has authority, responsibility and accountability as follows:

  1. Coordinates patient care efforts for all shifts.
  2. Accountable for coordination of unit based orientation and education.
  3. Accountable for ongoing, effective communication with multidisciplinary team members.
  4. Coaches and develops staff to meet job responsibilities; completes performance evaluations on staff.
  5. Accountable for day-to-day operational activities in the Hyperbaric Medical Services (HBMS).

    4. In conjunction with the Director and staff nurses maintains quality level of service on all shifts.
    5. Screens, interviews and selects appropriate candidates for open positions.
    6. Assists in the development of the annual department budget.
    7. Oversees employee’s schedules, time clocking, orientations, in-service training and performance reviews.
    8. Counsels, disciplines, and assists Director with Development Plans when deemed appropriate.
    9. Orders and evaluates department equipment and supplies.
    10. Assists Director in implementing and maintaining quality assessment and improvement program.
    11. Ensures that staffing levels are adequate, using independent and responsible judgment to guarantee delivery
      of service in a cost efficient manner.
    12. Functions as a liaison between HBMS and other Departments the institution exploring opportunities to collaborate in team orientated, patient centered care.
    13. Assists Director in developing and implementing policy and procedure.
    14. Takes appropriate action regarding complaints/concerns from physicians, patients, and other departments.
    15. In coordination with the Director will evaluate all patients' for authorization approval by the patient’s insurance company.
    16. Will negotiate contracts (ongoing and new) with participating insurance companies.
    17. In coordination with the Director will oversee all day-to-day insurance and eligibility issues.

Department/Unit Specific Responsibilities

  1. Primary Responsibilities (essential functions as defined in the Americans with Disabilities Act.)
    1. Provides input on department specific competencies.
    2. Assists Biomedical Department in maintaining the functions and safety of HBMS.
    3. Audits and review appropriate patient charts.
    4. Meets regularly with Program Director and Medical Director.
  2. Secondary Responsibilities
    1. Participates in system and community activities as requested.
    2. Participates in organizational committees and task forces as requested. Chooses team members among staff as requested for organizational teams.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education/Training

[X] Bachelor Degree in Nursing

[X] ACLS

[X] Certified Hyperbaric Registered Nurse

Skills and Experience (with minimum requirements indicated as appropriate)

Certificates and/or Licenses

  1. Current licensure as R.N. by the state board of nursing in which you practice.
  2. BLS/ACLS
  3. Maintains active CHRN status.
