Are there any special precautions taken for an HBO candidate with an ICD, which is rated for pressurization. Assuming the patient meets all other criteria. I haven't seen any specific guidelines from the UHMS.

Hi, Bill! Good question. I would always check with the ICD maker about hyperbaric testing and pressure limits.

Some hyperbaric physicians deprogram the unit to a straight pacemaker before and reprogram after each treatment. Overkill for me.

My real questions are why the ICD in the first place, is the patient well managed medically, and how many times has it fired?

Hope that helps.
