Melissa,
Thank you for your question. In line with our safety-first approach, we recommend applying the dressing after the hyperbaric treatment. The reasoning is safety first and foremost. Applying the Total Contact Cast before or after treatment has no bearing on the efficacy of the hyperbaric therapy.
Regarding casting, the standard mitigating measure recommendation is to allow time (24-48 hours) to off-gas of the casting material before allowing the product into the chamber. Allotting time for these flammable vapors to off-gas is essential.
For risk assessment purposes and approval of a prohibited item, we recommend obtaining the Safety Data Sheet for the product to confirm the time required for the chemical reaction and off-gassing. Ultimately, the decision to allow or mitigate the item should be made by your facility's Hyperbaric Safety Director and Hyperbaric Medical Director.
