INTENDED USES: Abiomend Xplus Hydromembrane is an amniotic membrane products used as a wound covering and to act as a barrier for full and partial-thickness, chronic and acute wounds.

CLAIMED BENEFITS: PalinGen® XPlus Hydromembrane is a human allograft processed from healthy amniotic tissue exactly like our PalinGen® Hydromembrane but goes through an additional manufacturing step of being chemically cross-linked with glutaraldehyde. The cross-linking of the extracellular matrix fibers gives greater tensile strength, shape manipulation, and slower resorption in vivo. PalinGen® XPlus Hydromembrane is conveniently packaged in sterile saline, to encourage hydration and malleability. It is packaged with sterile, removable mesh on both sides, to ensure it maintains form throughout storage. The mesh is easily removed at the time of insertion. Cross-linked. Greater tensile strength. Slower resorption. Chorion-free. Sterile (gamma irradiated). Air dried.

Application of Skin Substitutes (also known as Cellular and/or Tissue Based Products) to certain wounds may help these wounds heal faster than conventional dressings and conservative treatments. Usually skin substitutes are used if conventional treatment has been tried for at least 30 days and the wound has not healed as quickly as expected. Human skin allografts are a type of skin substitute. They are made of skin donated by human donors that have had intact cells removed or treated to avoid immunologic rejection (a process in which the body of the person receiving the skin substitute kills the cells of the skin substitute).

For Medicare to cover this product, it needs to be ordered and applied by your clinician. A patient cannot purchase it directly from a Durable Medical Equipment (DME) store and receive reimbursement for it.
