WoundReference is honored to participate in the 2026 Symposium on Advanced Wound Care Spring | Wound Healing Society (SAWC Spring | WHS), taking place April 8–12 in Charlotte, North Carolina. This year’s meeting is especially meaningful for our team, as our work, our clinical advisor and our clinical partners are being recognized on one of the most respected stages in wound care.

Highest-Scoring Abstract: “Sustaining Excellence in HBOT Safety: Centralized Management of Routine Safety Protocols Using Digital Tools”

We are pleased to share that Wound Reference's collaborative work with Wound Care University has been recognized with the Highest-Scoring Abstract – Practice Innovation Award at SAWC Spring 2026.

This initiative was inspired by the vision and priorities identified by their clinical leadership and developed by Wound Reference to translate those insights into a scalable safety hub - combining practical frontline expertise with purpose-built digital infrastructure to advance safety and quality in wound care.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the SAWC Abstract Committee for this recognition and for their continued commitment to advancing the field.

About the Award-Winning Abstract

  • Authors: Elaine H. Song, MD, PhD, MBA; Catherine Milne, APRN, MSN, CWOCN-AP; Chelsea Thompson, EMT, CHT, CWCA, WPC; Tiffany Hamm, BSN, RN, ACHRN, CWS; Jeffrey Mize, RRT, CHT, UHMSADS
  • Key Message: Hyperbaric safety protocols are well established. Many HBOT programs understand what needs to be done; however, ensuring that routine checks, documentation, environmental controls, and team coordination are carried out consistently across busy clinical settings remains an ongoing operational priority. This study demonstrates how translating paper-based inspection templates, maintenance logs, training modules, and adverse event reporting forms into centralized digital checklists, interactive workflows, and recurring tasks - using CliniPaths by WoundReference - enabled a multicenter HBOT program to standardize and strengthen its safety practices.
  • Previous evaluations have shown that, compared to paper-based documentation, CliniPaths’ digital workflows reduced time spent on daily maintenance checks and record reviews by 50%, while reinforcing a culture of safety across teams.

We are grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with Wound Care University and remain committed to developing solutions that translate clinical excellence into scalable, real-world impact.

Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to advance clinical and operational intelligence in wound care!
