EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

Consistent with the hospital’s credentialing policy, and to include:

    • Must be an M.D. or D.O. graduate holding a valid diploma from an accredited medical school.
    • Must be Board Certified or Board Eligible in a recognized medical or surgical specialty.
    • Active, unrestricted state medical license
    • DEA license 
    • Wound care certification (e.g. CWSP) from an accredited program, or eligibility to obtain certification from an accredited program.
    • Written and verbal communication skills (Computer skills necessary)

    PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

    Job Responsibilities:

    1. Clinical:
      • Consults, examines and treats patients with wounds
      • Keeps complete and accurate medical records
      • Assists, as appropriate, in the medical supervision of clinical staff.
      • Is readily available to manage patient emergencies that may arise during wound care appointments.
      • Maintains communication with referring medical providers.
      • Conducts appropriate patient discharge, follow-up, and referrals.
    2. Personal and Professional Development:
      • Actively stay current with the latest developments in wound care through ongoing educational activities.
      • Maintain competencies associated with wound management (e.g. biopsy, debridement, application of cellular and/or tissue based products, application compression devices, etc).
      • Engage in self-development through corporate training, coaching, and participation in professional associations.
      • Participates equitably in the quality improvement process
      • Be available to deliver formal presentations to diverse audiences, including medical staff meetings, hospital department meetings, grand rounds, local medical and community organizations, and service clubs, to enhance the visibility of the wound care program and support local education and awareness.
