3M Coban NL is an elastic compression bandage.
INTENDED USES: 3M Coban NL Non-Latex Self-Adherent Wrap is an elastic medical compression wrap that functions like a tape but sticks only to itself and not to skin, hair, drapes or clothing. It can be used for non-adhesive clinical applications such as blood draws, dressings, immobilization, secondary securement for difficult-to-dress areas (head, toes, fingers) and supports while providing compression* for soft tissue injuries (i.e. strains, sprains).
CLAIMED BENEFITS: This lightweight, conformable, breathable wrap can be adjusted during application and does not transfer color to clothing. It can be torn by hand to the appropriate length without the use of scissors. 3M Coban NL Non-Latex Self-Adherent Wrap is suitable for all patients – including those with fragile and at-risk skin - 3M™ Coban™ NL Non-Latex Self-Adherent Wrap helps protect wound sites and immobilize injuries. The wrap can be worn for up to 7 days on the leg when used as part of a venous leg ulcer management program** and it may also be used as a component in other compression wrap systems only under the supervision of a wound care specialist.
Compression therapy is one of the most important pillars in the treatment of venous ulcers. Compression therapy can be applied through compression bandages, gradient compression stockings, gradient compression wraps, and tubular dressings. These devices address the cause of venous ulcers, by helping blood to return to the heart from the legs. There are a variety of types of compression bandage systems available; some are just a single bandage, while others require the application of several different types of bandages to the leg.
