CLAIMED FEATURES: The E5250 electrode from Radiometer is used for O2 measurement and consists of a Clark electrode with a platinum cathode and a silver anode as reference. Upon measurement, the O2 diffuses through the skin and membrane into the electrode where the O2 is reduced, generating a measurable current. The size of the current determines the transcutaneous partial pressure of O2 (tcpO2). The electrode heats the skin to 37.0-45.0 °C in steps of 0.5 °C to achieve full vasodilatation and to obtain significant tcpO2 measurements.
