Vliwasorb Pro Superabsorbent Wound Dressing is a specialty absorptive
INTENDED USES: For wounds with moderate to very high levels of exudate, acute or chronic superficial wounds, such as: pressure ulcers, arterial ulcers, venous lower leg ulcers, diabetic ulcers, postoperative wounds healing by secondary intention, post-traumatic wounds, skin graft donor sites, oncological wounds, ulcerating tumours, wounds at risk of infection, superficial 2nd degree burns, and as a secondary dressing, e.g. on laparotomy wounds and fistulas.
CLAIMED BENEFITS: Vliwasorb Pro is a superabsorbent dressing for wounds with moderate to very high levels of exudate. The very high absorption and retention capacity of Vliwasorb Pro protects wound edges from maceration. Vliwasorb Pro promotes wound healing by maintaining a moist wound environment. The development of odour during the treatment is decreased. Vliwasorb Pro’s ergonomic and flexible design makes it safe and easy to use. The blue clothing protection layer protects clothing and bed linen from contamination.
Specialty absorptive dressings are those that do not fit into other absorptive surgical dressing categories. They often contain a novel or proprietary material or a combination of cotton, rayon, or cellulose, which acts as a super-absorbent wicking dressing. These dressings are often employed as secondary dressings over highly exudative wounds which require frequent dressing changes due to dressing saturation. Many are designed to allow for change of the specialty absorptive layer only, without disruption or the primary dressing or wound bed. These dressings are convenient for placement outside the primary layer of lower extremity compression wraps to allow the compression to remain in place longer, while still adequately managing wound exudate
