Debridement is important to promote wound healing. Debridement is the process through which clinicians remove dead tissue and foreign materials from wounds. Dead tissue may be of different colors: black, gray, yellow or white. There are several methods of wound debridement, and debridement using ultrasound is one of them. Devices that use ultrasonic energy can remove debris, exudates, fragments and other matter while preserving healthy structures.
These devices are purchased by clinical institutions for use by a licensed provider at a clinical setting. Cost of the use of the device is included in the debridement service.
