INTENDED USES: Indicated for protecting intact or damaged skin from body fluids in the areas of: Incontinence skin care, Peri-stomal skin protection, Peri-wound skin protection
CLAIMED BENEFITS: Prevents skin breakdown caused by moisture: Protection of vulnerable areas or sensitive, fragile skin: heels, elbows, toes, hips; Protection of incontinent patients’ skin; Protects skin at risk from maceration and excoriation: Periwound skin, Peristomal area, Maintains the integrity of newly healed skin.
Skin protectants are liquids that when applied on the intact skin around the wound, form a transparent coating on the skin. Skin protectants are designed to protect intact or damaged skin from urine, feces, other body fluids, tape trauma, and friction. They are contraindicated for deeper burns (second or third degree) burns, infected areas and should not be applied directly to the wound bed or to deep puncture wounds.
