A first-aid type adhesive bandage (e.g., Band-Aid or similar product) is a wound cover with a pad size of less than 4 square inches [1]. The adhesive bandage protects the wound and scab from friction, bacteria, damage, and dirt, making the healing process of the body less disturbed. Some of the dressings have antiseptic properties. An additional function is to hold the two cut ends of the skin together to make the healing process faster. [2]

They come in different sizes and are packaged individually to maintain sterility. Some  variations are sheer, Woven, Blue Metal Detectable, Knuckle, Fingertip, Butterfly Closure
