Dr. Gitterle is a co-founder and Chief Medical Officer of WoundCentrics, LLC, providing high functioning, system-based wound care programs in 12 states, including outpatient wound clinics, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, managed, provider-based inpatient wound care programs, and cross-continuum, community-wide outreach programs for wound care.

In addition, Dr. Gitterle serves as Regional Medical Director of Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine for the Christus Santa Rosa hospital system, which spans 4 inpatient and outpatient wound care programs in the San Antonio metropolitan area, and an umbrella program that spans more than 60 facilities in the region, covered by 17 fellowship trained wound care providers.

Dr. Gitterle has served as a Principal Investigator with the US Army Institute for Surgical Research, utilizing genomics and transcriptomics to further understanding of the microbial populations which constitute human wound biofilm, and their implications for wound healing, and antimicrobial resistance.

Dr. Gitterle is co-developer of TetraNow, the broadest-spectrum topical antibiotic available. He founded the Leg Savers program at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital, San Antonio, Texas, the first one-phone-call limb salvage system in the region, providing expert amputation prevention services in an accessible, patient-centric, system-based format. Patients benefit from rapid evaluation, and access to the entire spectrum of amputation-prevention care, including Interventional Cardiology, Vascular Surgery, Podiatric Surgery, Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, Infectious Disease, Hyperbaric Medicine, and Wound Care Specialists.

Dr. Gitterle is actively engaged in teaching physicians and mid-level practitioners Hyperbaric Medicine and advanced Wound Care techniques and evidence-based approaches to cost effective care as a program director and clinical faculty member of Wound Care University.
