PICO Single Use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy Dressing, Dressing size: 4"x8", 4"x12", 6"x6", 6"x8". Multisite: 6"x8", 8"x10

PICO Single Use Negative Pressure Wound Therapy System is a disposable negative pressure wound therapy device.

INTENDED USES: PICO is appropriate for: Acute wounds, Chronic wounds, Closed surgical incisions, Traumatic wounds, Sub-acute and dehisced wounds, Flaps and grafts, Partial-thickness burns, Diabetic, Venous ulcers.

CLAIMED FEATURES: Delivers the same level of effective negative pressure as traditional systems – in a canister-free, pocket-sized, disposable device. This, in turn, enables NPWT to be an option for a wider range of patients in all care settings. It consists of a small, portable, battery-operated pump with a lifespan of up to 7 days. The PICO™ pump generates an effective negative pressure of 80mmHg yet is small enough to fit discretely into a pocket. The PICO™ pump is connected to a specially designed dressing which: 1) maintains the negative pressure across the wound bed and 2) removes the exudate from the wound bed through absorbency and evaporation. At the end of the week, the pump and batteries may be recycled as non-clinical waste. Being single use. Can be kept on the shelf to allow easy access to the therapy when it's needed.

OPTIONS: Dressing size: 4"x8", 4"x12", 6"x6", 6"x8". Multisite: 6"x8", 8"x10

Product Information

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), with either durable or disposable devices, is a method of wound care to manage wound fluids and help wounds heal. The vacuum assisted drainage collection (i.e., NPWT) may be applied to try to cleanse the wound by removing fluids and stimulate healing.

In NPWT, your clinician will use a device that will apply negative pressure (suction) to the wound. Negative pressure is applied under airtight wound dressings to promote the healing of open wounds resistant to prior treatments.

Durable NPWT devices are powered with electrically or battery. Disposable devices do not use electricity but rather energy from batteries (e.g, PICO, V.A.C. Via, Prevena) or a spring mechanism (e.g., SNaP, CISNAP) to ensure portability. Durable NPWT can be bulky and interfere with normal activities. Disposable NPWT devices are portable, and can be applied more quickly and easily. Patients can wear under their clothing and continue their normal daily activities.
