3M™ Cavilon™ Advanced Skin Protectant is a skin protectant. CLAIMED FEATURES: The product’s superior barrier performance allows/enables damaged skin to heal. The protective barrier prevents, stops and reverses the effects of IAD due to its ability to attach /adhere to wet, weeping (denuded) and/or dry skin and its exceptional barrier properties, the product does a superior job of protecting skin from irritants. Protective barrier reduces pain associated with IAD and IAD care forms a transparent coating on the skin. It is a waterproof barrier film for management of IAD. It protects patients’ skin — even under the most challenging conditions. Use this revolutionary, no-removal barrier solution to stop, reverse — and even prevent — IAD. Long lasting barrier, protecting the skin for up to 7 days. OPTIONS: 28.0mL spray

Product Information

Skin protectants are liquids that when applied on the intact skin around the wound, form a transparent coating on the skin. Skin protectants are designed to protect intact or damaged skin from urine, feces, other body fluids, tape trauma, and friction.  They are contraindicated for deeper burns (second or third degree) burns, infected areas and should not be applied directly to the wound bed or to deep puncture wounds.

Medicare Part B (Medical Insurance) does not routinely cover skin sealants, protectants, moisturizers or ointments. Medicare beneficiary may have product covered when used for an ostomy, when all medical necessity criteria are met.
