Has anyone ever heard of increased fluid or fluid shift in cancer patients during HBO? An oncologist told me he has seen it happen several times. I have a post radiation cysitis/proctitis patient with abdominal swelling that has worsened during the first 30 dives. No ascites present. Interesting patient also had severe pelvic pain at 2.5 ATM but none at 2 ATM.

Kye,

I've not heard of that happening, in fact, physiologically, you should have less edema/third spacing with HBO because of the edema reduction mechanism. I have had some patients with arterial disease complain of worse pain with deeper depths but I am unsure why.
