I was approached last week by our infectious disease specialist who request HBO therapy for an HIV patient who has had persistent desquimation of his feet. The problem was felt to be due to antiretroviral therapy. He has been seen by dermatology and his antiretroviral therapy regimen has been changed. He has been treated for fungal infections and bacterial infections with not improvement. In July of last here he did have a positive fungal culture of his feet for candida parapilosis. Thank you
Have you ever heard of HBO being helpful in this scenario. I realize it would not be Medicare Approved

Jad ... you have a great hyperbaric medicine department at Mayo ... I'm sure there is an opinion there that can be trusted. Based on what you have shared, I see no indication and know of nothing in the literature that would suggest benefit.

Just my opinion. Others may disagree.
