Product Information

Cleansing is a vital component of wound care. Cleansing a wound helps remove dirt and germs that impair the healing process. Cleansers are solutions used to cleanse a wound. They can be antimicrobial or non-antimicrobial. Antimicrobial agents include antibiotics and antiseptics. Antiseptics are thought to prevent the growth of germs, however inadequate use may interfere with the wound healing process. They include products based on chlorhexidine, povidone-iodine, hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate, benzoyl peroxide, hypochlorites and gentian violet. Thus, latest clinical research recommends cleaning most wounds with high quality (drinkable) water, sterile water or saline solutions.
