Genadyne Gauze Dressing Supply Kits is a negative pressure wound therapy dressing.
CLAIMED FEATURES: Antimicrobial. Contains PHMB (Polyhexamethylene Biguanide), which acts as a highly effective antiseptic against most organisms, limiting cross-contamination from patient to patient, patient to clinician, and patient to the environment. PHMB resists bacterial colonization within the dressing and reduces bacterial penetration through the dressing. Broad-spectrum effectiveness provides protection against gram negative, gram positive, and fungi/yeast microorganisms including MRSA and VRE, thus reducing the risk of hospital acquired infections. The Antimicrobial Dressings provide a primary bacterial barrier by working as a contact kill and maintaining log counts in the wound without negative impact to wound healing. The secondary layer limits cross-contamination by significantly reducing bacterial growth in the pooling layer.

Negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT), with either durable or disposable devices, is a method of wound care to manage wound fluids and help wounds heal. The vacuum assisted drainage collection (i.e., NPWT) may be applied to try to cleanse the wound by removing fluids and stimulate healing.

In NPWT, your clinician will use a device that will apply negative pressure (suction) to the wound. Negative pressure is applied under airtight wound dressings to promote the healing of open wounds resistant to prior treatments.

Different types of dressings made specifically for NPWT may be used with the pump your clinician and you choose for your situation. Some dressings are made of gauze and others are made of a special type of foam. Dressings are usually changed 1-3 times a week.
